FRIENDS OF WISDOM-MALAWI

INTRODUCTION

Friends of Wisdom in Malawi is a child birth of Daughters of Wisdom Sisters which was born on 2nd February,2017. DW sisters wanted to share with lay community in Malawi the richness of Montfortian Spirituality. The group started with 25 members. 15 of which were women and girls while 10 are men.
Currently the group has 30 members from different parishes and dioceses in Malawi. 10 are men while 20 are women.

GROUP  STATUS

The group is in formation training status where members are undergoing trainings about the Montfortian SpiritualityWe meet every 6 weeks for the sessions and we are expected to attend 4 stages and each stage has 5-6 meetingsAfter completion of all the 4 stages, we will graduate and become real members of FoW Malawi. Below is a picture of some members having a group discussion

FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE FOUNDERS

Regardless of the fact that the group is undergoing formation training, the members are making strides to follow the footsteps of the founders; St Louis de Montfort, Sr Marie Louise of Jesus and Br. Gabriel in making sure that people can see Jesus in any human being regardless of age, tribe, ethnicity and economic status.
It is therefore through these values and virtues that in collaboration with the DW sisters in Malawi some of the members took part in distribution of food items to the hunger affected communities in Sitima and Lunzu parishes in May,2018.

Following the footsteps of the founders continue

It was also from the same thinking that FoW members contributed assorted items and distributed to the elderly and poor community in Lunzu parish in December,2018.

Considering the spirituality aspect, the FoW members organized a retreat which was conducted in February this year. The theme of the retreat was, “ TO JESUS THROUGH MARY”

It was facilitated by Fr. Nobert a Montfortian priest from Bvumbwe parish in Blantyre. Members enjoyed the session which was concluded by mass cerebrated by Fr Nobert.

Finally the members have outlined several programmes to be conducted along with the formation trainings. You will be communicated along as we implement our programme because am sure by the end of this training a website will be established……..
