The significance of our logo

The members of the International Committee of the Friends of Wisdom (ICFW) are pleased to present  the logo of the Friends of Wisdom.

We, the members of ICFW, asked the students of EMI (School of mulidisciplinary imagery) at the University of Quebec in Outaouais, Canada to design our logo.  It was within the framework of one of their courses, Design of Brand Name Logos, that their teacher guided them through the creation of our logo.

Friends from several countries contributed their ideas and key words which helped to develop this new logo. You will find a table of all the words that we received from Friends on our website (link: https://adlsinternational.blogspot.com/p/recolte.html ). We presented Friends of Wisdom, readings about Wisdom and its founders to the students, using these key words which they used to inspire their creation.

The members of the ICFW acknowledged the work of all the students. The teacher was instrumental in guiding our choice of logo, outlining the norms in this line of work. (See these criteria on the website). After reviewing the various proposed logos, a decision was made to choose the work by a young lady, Valerie Bednar-Roy. During her presentation of her logo, she outlined several points: “My logo illustrates the beginning of the world. A bird flies above, observing the earth. The bird brings to mind the feeling of freedom that comes with spirituality  (...). Furthermore, the dove is a symbol of peace and love. (...). This composition is harmonious because the dove symbolizes the positive and the future.”

Our attention was drawn to this logo because of the harmony between the symbolism, shape and colours.

The bird, a universal symbol, brings to mind the charity and compassion of the saints.  Its melodious singing praises its Creator. For us, it also symbolizes the messenger of the Wisdom from the four corners of the world.  The bird reminds us of the dove of peace or the hummingbird who is called to action by carrying its drop of water to put out a fire. The latter action, as small as it may be, contributes to the coming of the Kingdom of God.

The colour blue reminds us of Mary who was so important to father Montfort. Blue also conveys serenity and faith.  The stained glass allows light to pass through like an invitation to let Wisdom penetrate our hearts.  The stained glass, round in shape, with its different shades of blue and turquoise, shows our unity in diversity.

Some of us on the committee, pictured the hat of the misssionary Father Montfort who encourages us to start serving and proclaiming the Wisdom. Others saw the stylized letters of M of Monfort and ML of Marie-Louise.

Which connections do you make between the logo and how does it identify you as Friends of Wisdom?

NB
We were impressed by the work of the students because we noticed that through their creation, they were touched by the Wisdom, even though they did not know the Wisdom and sometimes were not close to the church.
