Friends of wisdom members in Malawi had a retreat on 9th February,2019. The theme of the retreat was " Serving Jesus (Wisdom) through Mary"

The retreat was facilitated by Fr. Nobert  a Montfortian priest based at Bvumbwe parish in the archdiocese of Blantyre in Malawi.

We learnt that Mother Mary is the sure and shortest path to attain Jesus Christ (Wisdom). St Montfort said that we must follow the path chosen by God Himself and that path involved Mary.

True devotion to Mary should be a loving and genuine devotion to the Blessed Virgin, being at her service without expecting anything in return,for favours granted. Because in serving  and honouring Mary we serve and honour God. This devotion should be:

-Interior

-Trustful

-Holy

-Constant

-Unselfish

We also learnt about false devotions to Mary which includes:

-Critical devotees

-Scrupulous devotees

-Exterior devotees

-Presumptuous devotees

-Inconsistent devotees

-Hypocrite devotees

-Selfish devotees.

Finally we were encouraged to practice the devotions which include:

-Venerating Mary as Mother of God.

-Meditating on her virtues, privileges and works

-Contemplating her grandeur

-Speak to her words of love and recognition

Invoke her from the depths of our hearts

- Do good works

The retreat was finally concluded with the Holy Mass which was led by Fr. Nobert.
